Tangled Up In Dru

5 notes

Thank you and goodnight; My last tumblr post.

After recieving a simply vile message I am withdrawing my interest in the popular website known as Tumblr. This decision was made in full consciousness and sobriety.

I’ve enjoyed the occasional pictures of Carl Barat, and my love for the blogs of Ceridwen, Holly, Tilde, Rosie, Kirsty, Madeleine is infinite.

free your mind,

Dru x

One of the Best Experiences of my life

Frank Turner put in a great set at Kendal Calling, and him and the band played photosynthesis last.  I happened to be standing next to my best mate who is a stacked chap, so naturally i formulated the idea for me to go up on his shoulders. It was packed at the front but we managed to get airbourne, and as a man of 6 foot 4 sittining on a man of 6 foot 3 i was hiiiigh. James turned around so i faced the crowd and there infront of me were about 5000 people singing photosynthesis with me arms stretched wide screaming it back to them. The camera zoomed in on me and I was on the massive screen at the back of the stage.

I WONT SIT DOWN

I WONT SHUT UP

AND MOST OF I WILL NOT GROW UP

An open letter to anybody who has made jokes about, and demeaned the life of Amy Winehouse

You seem to have reacted strangely to the news of the death of a human being. This particular human being was what many would call a celebrity, under modern standards. The main angle of attack for yourself seems to be that this human being was ‘a talentless waster.’ I’d like to take each of these elements and deal with them seperately.

To say Ms Winehouse was talentless is a very ignorant statement to make, whether you enjoyed her music or not.

She was Nominated for a Mercury Prize

               Won Best New Artist Grammy

Won Record of the Year Grammy

Won Single of the Year Grammy

               Won two other Grammys

Won the BRIT for Best Female Artist

Won Ivor Novello award for Best Contemporary Song

Won Ivor Novello award for Best Contemporary Song (Again)

Won Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically

‘Back to Black’ was the third highest selling Album of the 000s

I think its fair to say she was in no way talentless, as she *shock horror* actually wrote music too, unlike some of the people you drones seem to listen to.

Amy’s drug dependency has been well documented over her career. The ‘haters’ or whatever people are calling themselves are focussing on this saying she is a bad example. I’d be the first to say she was a role model to me, because i learnt from her mistakes, which has far more potency than some do-gooder pop star that poses for a photoshoot in ethiopia in order to sell their autiobiography probably called ‘my journey’ or something.

Also there are far more people, and celebrities, that escape the ‘druggy’ tag which use drugs a lot. Hugh Grant, for example, does cocaine. Sorry to break it to you, but if he died suddenly, people would be calling for Notting Hill to be made the greatest film of all time in his honour, and his acting would be at the forefront rather than his drug use.

I see no reason for you to make jokes about the loss of a true modern icon of music, who did things her way, and refused to conform to the industries bastardisation of the term ‘popstar.’ I will be listening to ‘Frank’ and ‘Back to Black’ far more than i used to, because i took her music for granted.

So before posting your ‘amusing’ facebook status about Amy, think about what you’ve ever done with your life, and why you are trying to gain petty likes on the back of someone’s tragic and untimely death.

Love is a losing game,

I shouted yesterday for the first time in months and months

It was on a train as well, how embarrassing. Somebody picked a debate with me about the NHS, claiming that it should be privatised and that doctors should choose which patients to treat first and demand things of the patients in terms of smoking/drinking etc.  He was systematically wrong. The moment somebody uses the word ‘economic’ when referring to somebody’s life is when my cage is truly rattled. After about 15 minutes he said  ’ why should we give the right to life to somebody that smokes ’ to which i subtly retorted ‘ITS A NATIONAL FUCKING HEALTHSERVICE YOU CALLOUS PIECE OF SHIT. FREE AT THE POINT OF ENTRY. CLEMENT ATLEE AND NIGHE BEVAN CREATED THE NHS WITH THE NATIONAL DEBT SCORES HIGHER THAN IT IS TODAY. IM PROUD TO LIVE IN A COUNTRY IN WHICH A DOCTOR CHECKS YOUR PULSE BEFORE YOUR BANK BALANCE. YOUR PROPOSAL WOULD LEAVE THE POOR DYING ON THE STREET, DESPITE THEM PAYING MORE EQUIVALENT TAX THAN THE TOP EARNERS WHO YOU WOULD SAVE FIRST. ‘

or something along those lines.  yesterday is all a bit hazy due to the amount of cheap vodka i shovelled down my neck last night. I do remember getting some applause from the man sat behind me
